an oversized bat, semi-downtown BBQ, and a steel drumming fraud= Welcome to Louisville

Here is what I now know about Lousiville, Kentucky.  It is great city to walk around in a day.  Although i'd choose better footwear than a slightly snug pair of flip flops that, with a temp. in the high 80's and a solid day of walking will dig into your feet like mole diggin' a hole.  It has a great arts festival held on 4th Street with hosting local and out-of-town talent.  One such talent was a great steel-drummer one minute, but walking by his booth several hours later we were met with shock as we heard his tune from before being played not by his steel-drumming hands but by a boombox.  Shame... Also, there is a museum completely dedicated to the Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat which, as I found out, can be entered into prior to the actual opening time of the museum by a secret portal found in the museum's parking garage where, to the surprise and bewilderment of the lone security guard and the excited and paying museum goers, I got a sneak peak of the museum's treasures for free.  Whoops.  Another thing, if you're looking for good southern Bar-B-Q, don't try and find it anywhere in the downtown.  When we asked where a good place to eat good local Bar-B-Q was in the downtown, we were met by confusion bordering on disgust that we would ask such a question.  After some legwork we found a tasty place a few minutes drive outside of the downtown called Mike's Feed Store that had delicious sweet tea and, yes, Bar-B-Q.  But hey, if you're looking for a nice local joint like Arby's, Subway or T.G.I. Fridays, set up shop in the downtown area and knock yourself out.  Lastly, if you're looking for a nice watering hole to put up your feet and maybe catch a sporting event, hit up the pub fittingly coined, "PUB" on 4th street and throw back some suds from all over the globe.
Overall, Louisville offered what many midwestern cities tend to offer, an extremely pedestrian friendly city plan and some nice local festival fun-tivities.  Approved.

Binging on Family and Friends

Sometimes the cure for a headache is some tylenol and a little rest.  Sometimes the cure for a rumbling stomach is some sustenance.  But one thing that will cure almost anything is good quality time spent with your family and friends.  At the beginning of June I was lucky enough to make a trip out to the midwest to visit my sister and her family in Indiana.  And while I was out in that part of the country I was able to take a day and meet a good friend of mine, Thomas Jordan, in Louisville, Kentucky.  The plan was to binge.  And let's just say I completely stuffed my face with family and friend time.
